Food Not Meds, Gaples Institute - Carol D'Anca MS, Event Organizer
This informative seminar will be followed by discussion as it addresses the need for fact based education on how to prevent and reverse heart disease - our number one killer in the U.S.
You will have an opportunity to learn from two nationally known physicians who are authorities in the study of heart health.
Dr. Stephen Devires, M.D. is a preventive cardiologist and the Executive Director of the Gaples Institute for Integrative Cardiology, a nonprofit organization that provides leadership in the field of integrative cardiology through advocacy and education regarding the powerful role of nutrition and lifestyle changes for prevention of heart disease. He is also Associate Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University.
Dr. Devries received cardio-subspecialty training at Washington University in St. Louis and later completed a Fellowship in Integrative Medicine with Dr. Andrew Weil at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Devries previously wrote a weekly column, "Heart Beat", for the Chicago Sun-Times. He authored "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Cholesterol" (Warner Wellness, 2007) and co-edited the textbook "Integrative Cardiology" (Oxford University Press, 2010).
Dr.Devries has been voted by his peers many years over as one of the "Best Doctors in America" and lectures nationally on integrative approaches to the prevention of heart disease.
Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn was surgeon, clinician and researcher at the Cleveland Clinic for more than thirty five years, where he was a member of the board of governors and president of staff in 1991.
Dr. Esselstyn organized the first National Conference on the Elimination and Prevention of Heart Disease. In 2005 he became the first recipient of the Benjamin Spock Award for Compassion in Medicine.
Drawing from his twenty-year nutritional study - the most comprehensive study of its kind, Dr. Esselstyn convincingly argues that plant-based, oil free nutrition can not only prevent and stop the disease but also reverse its effects. Dr. Esselstyn is the author of "Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease"
This seminar will inspire you to take charge of your health!
